Front of House Staff

This is a Union (Unite Here Local 17) position.

The Front of House staff oversees the cocktail room experience for the BJWC distillery. As one of the faces of the business, it is essential that Front of House staff embody all of the BJWC core values. Staff should be enthusiastic, outgoing, engaging, and have attention to detail.

Other duties are as follows:

  • Execute the signature Brother Justus American Single Malt Whiskey service and tasting program

  • Execute an exceptional hospitality experience in the cocktail room

  • Execute consistently high level of service

  • Accurately maintaining sales in a computerized system

  • Maintain clean, tidy, beautiful, and safe physical plant and cocktail room premises

    CORE DUTIES

    POSITION SPECIFICS

    Greets customers and takes food and/or beverage order; provides information about products and looks for opportunity to discuss our featured items

    Follows recipes and/or product directions for mixing beverages

    Collects payments and operates cash registers for drinks and/or food serve following company-established cash handling policies and procedures for all transactions; secures all monies at the end of each shift

    Follows all BJWC SOPs for customer service, adult beverage, and cash handling policies and procedures

    Ensures a clean, sanitized and well-stocked bar

    Adheres to all company safety and sanitation policies and procedures

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

    • Must have a minimum of 3 years’ bartending and/or restaurant experience; fine dining experience is a plus;

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    • Ability to perform multiple functions under pressure  

    • Passion for brand, product, and story  

    • Highly organized, detail-attentive, and professional

    • Communicates effectively to team and leadership

    • Be able to work a variety of hours, days, and shifts, including weekends and increased work schedules

    • Maintain a positive, pleasant attitude every shift

    • Must be able to stand or walk for a shift

    • Must be willing to perform other duties assigned as needed

    Essential Physical Functions

    • Enters and locates information on computer and equipment

    • Must be able to stand or walk for of a shift

    • Must be able to work at approximately 36” table/bar and reach 36”

    • Ability to lift weight in excess of 40 lbs

    • Ability to carry weight in excess of 40 lbs

    • Ability to sit/stand for prolonged periods of time

    • Ability to pick up and transport production supplies and certain equipment

Sales Market Manager

Pay Rate Range: $25-30/hr - average of 15-20 hours per week (PT)
Reports to Director of Sales
Designated Markets: Minneapolis, MN; Chicago, IL

The Sales Market Manager is one of the key roles on the sales team at Brother Justus Whiskey Company. Their primary responsibilities are to increase sales of all branded spirits, develop and maintain retailer relationships, and engage with both off and on-premise location customers. They will implement various elements of the BJWC sales strategy. This is a pivotal role in the company and their ability to do their job well can determine the long-term success of the company. The ideal candidate must have spirits sales experience and passion for reaching our goals by driving velocity through engagement, brand advocacy, and education with consumers, trade and distributors.

    They will implement various elements of the BJWC sales strategy. This is a pivotal role in the company and their ability to do their job well can determine the long-term success of the company. The ideal candidate must have spirits sales experience and passion for reaching our goals by driving velocity through engagement, brand advocacy, and education with consumers, trade and distributors.

    Other skills include:

    • Proven experience in sales, preferably within the spirits industry or related fields

    • Strong knowledge and passion for BJWC

    • Strong relationships in both the independent off and on-premise channels • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills to engage with a diverse client base

    • Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and able to work independently while contributing to a team-driven environment

    • Deadline-oriented self-starter who is proactive and holds themself to a high standard of work quality

    • Strong and active social media presence

    POSITION SPECIFICS

    • Make new retail and on-premise volume placements

    • Sell in and merchandising retail displays in existing and new retailers

    • Achieve competitive brand adjacencies at retail for existing and new placements

    • Achieve in-service volume cocktail placements in the on-premise channel

    • Merchandise current and new placements with the most up-to-date point-of-sale materials

    • Follow up to train retail and on-premise staff on features and benefits of the brand and product

    • Conduct consumer events, seminars and tastings in key accounts

    • Coordinate with Marketing team on all tastings, events, seminars

    • Support and work with distributor sales teams in the market, at meetings, and events

    • Support retail, on-trade and consumer shows as required; attend the brand's booth at festivals and other events in core markets

    • Provide weekly and monthly recaps of all activities, and report market trends

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

    • Must have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in sales within the spirits industry

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    • Adept at networking, selling, and interacting with diverse groups of people

    • Excellent communication and presentation/public speaking skills

    • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook

    • Great communicator and listener in-person, over phone, email, and videoconference

    • Strong work ethic, with a good-humored and positive “can do” attitude

    • Values achieving results through the BJWC values

    • Problem solver who is can judge priorities against how to manage time effectively

    • Loves learning by providing, receiving and responding positively to constructive feedback.

    • Proven ability to apply key learnings and feedback.

    • Detail-oriented and strong organizational skills

    • Emerging brand experience or knowledge preferred.

    • Willingness to work unconventional hours (late nights and weekends)

    • Must have a valid Driver’s License and be able to drive/travel through the designated market area (Minneapolis, MN or Chicago, IL)

    • Ability to travel out of state
